From Rustic to Luxe: Vista Ostuni’s Tobacco Factory Hotel is a Breath of Fresh Air!

Vista Ostuni Hotel is not just a luxury resort but also a tribute to history and culture, contributing to the urban revival of Ostuni.

Vista Ostuni Hotel is located in Ostuni, Italy, and was designed by RMA | Roberto Murgia Architetto. It transforms a former tobacco factory into a coastal resort hotel that combines historical charm with modern comfort. The project achieves a perfect fusion of history and modernity through the careful restoration of the original building’s grand spaces and stone structures, while incorporating local craftsmanship and five-star standards.

The hotel preserves the original architectural features of the factory, such as the stone vaults and semi-arched ceilings (locally known as “volta a schifo”), while restoring courtyards, doors, and windows to breathe new life into the building. During the renovation, local artisans played a crucial role, re-carving cornices, repairing exterior walls, and using stone and marble from nearby quarries for flooring and terraces.

The hotel offers 28 guest rooms, including 19 suites, each featuring views of the sea, gardens, or the “White City.” The room designs are minimalist yet elegant, using materials such as stone, wood, ceramics, and woven fibers to create a serene atmosphere. The bathrooms are spacious, featuring Italian marble and refined fixtures for a comfortable stay.

Dining facilities include Bianca Bistrot, Berton al Vista Restaurant, and Chiostro Bar, providing all-day service from breakfast to dinner, with menus highlighting local produce and vegetarian options. The rooftop garden features an infinity pool and Infinity Bar, planted with olive trees, carob trees, and pomegranate trees, offering guests a perfect spot to enjoy views of the city and the sea.

Additionally, the hotel boasts a 350-square-meter spa center, equipped with single and double treatment rooms, a beauty salon, a gym, a sauna, and a heated pool, providing a comprehensive wellness experience. The landscape design spans three hectares, featuring Mediterranean plants to create a natural and harmonious environment.

The project emphasizes sustainability, aiming for LEED certification. By reusing existing structures, improving energy efficiency, conserving water resources, and restoring biodiversity, it achieves environmental goals. Vista Ostuni Hotel is not just a luxury resort but also a tribute to history and culture, contributing to the urban revival of Ostuni.
