The broad appeal of Wisharawish Akarasantisook’s luxuriant apparel can be attributed to an eclectic mix of elements. The repetition of patterns and clean geometric shapes alludes to the more cosmopolitan and sophisticated style of haute couture, reflecting the Thai designer’s training at the Institut Français de la Mode in Paris.
Clothes from Wisharawish’s Spring/Summer 2020 Collection were made with textiles produced by 14 communities of weavers across Thailand. Besides the soft handfeel and excellent wear of these handcrafted fabrics, they showcase cultural traditions and are a canvas for self-expression.
