Linda Bergroth transforms the building of the Finnish Institute of Culture in Paris into a minimal, KOTI design hotel. Celebrating 100 years of Finnish independence, the name translates as ‘home’ and was inspired by summer-cottage houses. A sense of serenity and harmony fills the wooden cabins, furnished with the best of country’s design – Innolux lamps, ceramic tableware by Nathalie Lahdenmaki or Piippu pots by Kaksikko.
A communal table and benches designed by Mattila & Merz form a central point, where visitors can discard the quite, private experience for a bit of interaction. One can also enter a separate cabin of entertainment to watch short films or read Finnish travel guides.
