Building a Tiny World – Tatsuya Tanaka’s Miniature Calendar New Work

And during the pandemic, he started to incorporate masks, thermometers and toilet paper. These all-too-familiar objects have been transformed into swimming pools, laundry machines and ski slopes!

We featured the Tiny Tiny Worlds of Tatsuya Tanaka before, and we were so relieved and delighted to see that he’s continued his Miniature Calendar series. Japanese designer and photographer Tatsuya Tanaka creates miniature scenes that spark memories of the boundless imagination of childhood.

Since April 2011, Tanaka has been building his miniature world, combining food and everyday items with miniature figures.

In his Miniature Calendar project, a cluster of broccoli may become a forest and a toast can be seen as a boxing ring.

As the new posts got bigger reactions and he received comments asking to ‘see the miniature calendar everyday‘, Tanaka decided that he should post daily.

And during the pandemic, he started to incorporate masks, thermometers and toilet paper. These all-too-familiar objects have been transformed into swimming pools, laundry machines and ski slopes!

Tatsuya’s ingenious creativity is the kind of delightful levity we need and with more than 2 million followers on Instagram, you can enjoy his daily creations directly on your feed!
